Compton 1896: āComptonā by William Morris. This painting is believed as one of ālast designā created by Morris. That exactly made me more emotional and we could not include this one in our series inspired from the work of great Mr Morris.Ā
One can see tulips and poppies woven into a rich, flowing pattern. This was always a definitive style of Morris which was later made best known for the Wall-papers. The scale of the flowers indicates that the paper was intended for a large, ceremonial room.
This design was created and then produced in 1896 as a wallpaper for private house if Laurence Hodson. It was first mounted in now a City of England called Wolverhampton. Itās in Central England. Now the 19th-century Wolverhampton Art Gallery has collection of William Morris interiors and landscaping.
